Breaking the Law...?

"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward." - Psalm 19:7-11

Much has been said about how Believers are under the Old Testament law recently, thanks to some interesting videos being shared across social media networks. It's not a new conversation - it's been going on for a couple thousand years or so - but it warrants a reminder: God does not change. The things He commanded long ago He commanded for a reason, His heart hasn't changed about anything. The difference is that where once there was only His justice we now have His grace. Our bodies are our sacrifice, our heart the altar where we can seek His face and repent and live. God is so cool like that!

In other news: Jaffrey Bible House is still around! We try to keep our Facebook page up-to-date with anything important and that's the best place to keep up with what God's doing. I (Will) am still unemployed but keeping busy with Amazon orders and a class I started taking a few weeks ago called Perspectives. I love God and I love His people so getting together with other Believers to talk about what He's doing for planet Earth is always rewarding. The flexibility of having the Jaffrey Bible House online (sort of) is great since we aren't bound by things like store hours - we're always open!

This is the Amazon site we've been putting the overstock in: TerminatingDecimal is actually a storefront that I've had for sometime now and there's other "toys" there too. ;)

Art in Motion

"And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden." (Genesis 3:8)

The more I study God's Word the more I'm struck with the simple truth that He knows what He's doing. Nothing has caught Him by surprise, everything is going exactly as He planned it. May I boast on this for a moment?

My God created angels knowing Lucifer would rebel. He created Eden knowing it was only a temporary home. He created the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil knowing its fruit would be eaten. He created Adam and Eve knowing they would sin. He came as a man knowing He would be killed, and His people are dying every day to His eternal glory. We've had earthly kings that, for good or ill, maintained they were chosen to rule by the Divine - but my God is the only Divine King. He chose Himself to rule. My God invented death and then beat it. He knows the beginning from the end because He's there and if given the opportunity to do it all over again He wouldn't change a single thing.

I find tremendous comfort in this - that my God is never caught off-guard. When my day is horrible, when I have no work, when I read the news about so many depressing things going on around me I rest in Him and His Word, confident that the worst my enemy can do is kill me and my God will just turn that right around.

He's such an Artist like that.
